Dear Baby Huck: Roly Poly Boy: Your Fourth Month

Dear Huckleberry Handsome,

Wow! Mommy is way behind on this post. You are going to be five months old in a week and here I am just now getting your four month post up. Ah well, better late than never.

Huckleberry Handsome is what Mrs. Linda of Long's Photography called you when she was taking your pumpkin patch portraits. We loved this nickname so it has stuck around. That's how your fourth month started off, with pumpkin patch portraits that turned out adorable. Go here to see them. Type in Wimberly for the access code.

Here are some of the bigger/funnier things that happened during your fourth month:

On September 3rd (your three month birthday) something pretty funny happened. You had just finished eating and Mommy was holding you in a standing position when you suddenly sneezed three times. Why is this funny? Spit-up flew out of your month over the course of these sneezes and landed all over Mommy's face, neck and chest. Daddy found this quite amusing.
During this past month, you hit a huge milestone (September 9). You rolled over (from back to front)! Unfortunately, Mommy was at Publix when you did it so Daddy was the only witness. I finally caught you doing it a week later. You perfected this trick throughout the month and it wasn't long before you could quickly flip over and push up your chest to look around the room. You can either pick up your chest or get up on your knees. You haven't done both at the same time yet but you keep trying.

On the 14th you did something Mommy was very excited about. You slept for 7.5 hours straight! You've only done this a few times since but we're so glad you're starting to sleep longer and longer.
You have a new game that you like. It's "Peek-a-Boo"! Around the middle of the month you started really enjoying this game and laughing at it.
The 25th was another huge step for you. You had your first food. We debated back and forth about what your first food should be. Since Mommy had lots of allergies as a child, we were worried you would too. So, we went with plain old rice cereal. You really seemed to enjoy it and you've had a variety of food since then all of which you've loved.

Not sure when you did this, but you also found your toes in September and you never stop playing with them. You love pulling your socks off, grabbing your toes, and putting them in your mouth.

Your stats at four months old are as follows:

Weight - 14 lbs and 14 oz (50th percentile)
Height - 26 1/4 inches (90th percentile)
Head Circumference - 17 1/2 inches (>97th percentile)

I was curious about your head circumference because we come from a family of big heads. I talked to your Grandpa (my dad), your Uncle Ryan, and Daddy and had them all measure their heads. I measured mine too. My head is in the 95th percentile. Daddy's, Grandpa's, and Uncle Ryan's are all in the >97th percentile. What does this all mean? You inherited your head size and your big smart brains too!
