Dear Baby Huck: Growing Like a Weed: Your Third Month

Dear Huck,

Believe it or not, you are now three months old. Where has the time gone? You have grown, developed, and changed at such a rapid pace Daddy and I can hardly believe our eyes. I see newborns and I think to myself, "Our baby was never THAT small!" But, I suppose you were.

Since you didn't have an official doctor check up this month, I only have a few stats. You're wearing size 3-6 month onesies but your PJ's are 6-9 months. You are so long you grow out of those footie pajamas pretty quickly. It seems that as soon as we get you a new size, you're growing out of them the next week. Thanks to a small cough you had over the last couple of days you ended up at the doctor's office today. Luckily, you are not sick and we got to find out your 3 month weight, 13lbs. and 4oz. That puts you in the 50th percentile for weight. We can't wait to see what your height measurement is next month.

We have had several new developments this month. You have continued to be quite the wild child. You love to stand and sit up (supported of course). If you're not in one of these positions, you do your best to get into it with some help from a big person. When you're laid on your belly, you either roll over onto your back or try to get your knees under yourself. If you manage to get your knees under your belly, you start scooting yourself forward with your chest on the ground. One day you made it a whopping two feet all on your own. You've also figured out how to scoot around on your back by pushing your feet across the floor or bed. Containing you is nearly impossible without the use of straps. You get out of your Boppy in a matter of seconds. When we unbuckle you from your car seat, swing, or bouncy, we have to immediately take you out or you will use your legs to push your butt into the air and your legs immediately start sliding down and out of whatever you're in. We've started trying your Bumbo seat recently and even that is an obstacle you easily overcome. In the Bumbo you will lift up your butt by pushing your feet against the ground and before you know it you're heading up and out. Thank God for that Bumbo recall, we're gonna need some straps for that thing. Along with your crazy movements has come lots and lots of talking. You love to make happy noises all the time. I am very excited to say that you have your /m/ sound down. You have now yelled Maaaaamaaaaamaaaaamaaaa a few times. That makes Mommy so proud =) Our favorite development this month has to be your laugh. You have recently started really laughing and Daddy and I can't get enough of it. They're all pretty small and short but we still love each and everyone of them and constantly try to get you to do it again. Of course the biggest change this month has been you starting school. Overall, you're a very happy and easy going baby. There are few things that bother you. The only times you cry are if you are overly hungry, overly tired, if a loud noise scares you, or if we are stopped at a light in the car and there is nothing going on to entertain you. Outside of those few things, you're pretty much always happy. You love when someone blows raspberries on you or near you. Sometimes you even blow them back. You love love love Daddy whistling. It immediately puts a smile on your face. You enjoy music, your exersaucer, your play gyms, the silly tiger on your car seat, and being on the changing table.
