Your First Week

Dear Huck,

I realize this post is almost a week late but we've been a little busy around here.  After we brought you home from the hospital we've spent our time taking care of you, staring at you, and talking about you.  It's pretty much been ALL about YOU!  We're okay with that :).  Nana, Grandad, and Mima were here for a whole week.  We got spoiled with all that extra help and love in the house.  Hopefully we'll get to see them again really soon.

I must say, things went much more smoothly than I expected for your first week.  You nursed about 10 times a day each day and you slept anywhere from one hour to three hours at a time.  You also seemed to have figured out that night time was the time to sleep for longer stretches.  Mommy and daddy really appreciated that.  You did fuss some and get cranky at times but you really weren't bad.  On Thursday we took you for your first doctor's appointment.  You are a healthy baby boy and you even gained 5 ounces from Tuesday (when we left the hospital) to Thursday.  The nurse practitioner was quite impressed.  Mommy and Daddy were very proud of you.  We go back on Monday (the 18th) for a weight check.  Daddy and I are very curious to see how much more weight you've gained. 

As I mentioned before you seemed to like your bath.  You also like being swaddled but you don't like having your arms in the swaddle.  You don't really care for pacifiers much but you will suck and chew on your hand and fingers.  Mommy thinks you'll probably be one to carry and chew on a lovey or your thumb as opposed to a pacifier.  Only time will tell.
